THE ACCURATE DEFINITION OF WISDOM
Wisdom is so often defined as the ability to apply knowledge. This definition is inadequate and is usually employed by those who don’t understand what real wisdom is. However, when you have the Spirit of wisdom functioning in you, you’d understand how to define wisdom.
Firstly, Wisdom is a force. It’s the divine insight into the plans and purposes of God. It’s understanding spiritual realities.
Wisdom can also be defined as the insight of knowledge and the controlling power of insight. Wisdom is insight into reality (truth), foresight into the future. It causes you to understand what others can’t see. With wisdom, you can rightly judge what others can’t figure out. I said wisdom is a force; it’s more than an ability. You can have the ability to do something and not do it. For example, you’re looking at a glass and you know you’re supposed to remove it from where it is. You also know you have the ability to do so, but you don’t do it. That’s not wisdom. Wisdom causes you to do what you should do!
If you have the ability to apply knowledge and you don’t apply it, or you know what’s right to do and you don’t do it, you’re not wise. In fact, you’ll be described as a fool, because you knew what to do and how to do it but you still didn’t do it!
The wisdom of God has the power to cause you to say what you should say, do what you should do and think what you should think. It makes you go where you should go. Wisdom is not passive; it’s manifested by action.
CHRIST IS OUR WISDOM
“But of him (God) are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:” (1 Corinthians 1:30).
In the New Testament, we have something that Solomon, in all his wisdom, didn’t have—Christ! He’s our wisdom. Colossians 2:3 tells us “In whom (Christ) are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. In other words, He is the embodiment of all wisdom and all knowledge.
So when you make Jesus the Lord of your life and He takes up His abode in the quarters of your heart, that’s Wisdom dwelling in your heart. However, it’s one thing to have Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord in general but it’s something totally different when He becomes Lord of your mind (your decisions, thoughts, and emotions). That’s when wisdom starts functioning in you.
When Jesus becomes Lord of your mind, He begins to direct your thinking. Your mind becomes anointed of God, and an anointed mind receives sanctified thoughts, thoughts that are reserved for kings. Glory to God!
The Bible says in Proverbs 25:2 that “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.” This is what the Bible calls the knowledge of the holy. God hides it from the world, then He ministers divine wisdom to your mind by the anointing of the Holy Ghost and you begin to discover secret things.
LET WISDOM TAKE CHARGE OF YOU
Some people still say things like, “If not for God, I know what I’d have done to you,” or “If you provoke me, I’ll show you the side of me that is not born again.” You don’t have to say such things, you’re a Christian. Let the Spirit of wisdom take charge of your mind, your thoughts, your words and your actions.
Remember, Christ—the embodiment of wisdom—dwells in you and has imparted His nature of wisdom to you. That Spirit of wisdom Paul talked about in Ephesians 1:17 dwells in you. You can begin to take full advantage of His ministry in your life today and live the good life God has planned for you to live.
